Visits to and from Tanzania Many visitors who have traveled to and from Tanzania through congregation/parish companionships. Bishop Burk visited the Pare Diocese in 2009, and Bishop Mjema visited the Southeastern Iowa Synod in May, 2011.
Congregation/Parish Relationships Thirty congregations of the Southeastern Iowa Synod are in a companion partnership with parishes in the Pare Diocese. The scope of these relationships range from letter and email communications, exchange of visits to and from Tanzania and projects.
Projects Congregations and parishes partner in a variety of projects, as well as synodical/diocesan projects. Recent projects include, water, goats, building/renovating worship centers and schools, agriculture and health.
Annual Companion Summit The synod offers an annual summit that provides opportunities for learning, networking, sharing stories and worship. This is provided for congregations already participating or interested in a partnership.
