Profile of the companion synod relationship - 6D Northwestern Ohio Synod / Tanzania / Dodoma Diocese (DD)
Our Role in Global Mission

It opens our eyes to the global challenge that Christ offers us today and calls us to deepen our commitment and discipleship as individuals and as a community of faith. We participate through prayer, study, & exchanges of persons and resources.

Component(s) of our relationship

Prayers
We lift up our companion regularly in prayer. We offer prayers for the Bishop and for all the men and women who are a part of the Dodoma Diocese staff. We pray God and the Spirit is working through them and with them to serve others through Jesus.

Financial Support
Have helped fund the Theology Education by Extention (TEE) program in within the Dodoma Diocese

Financial Support
We have provided funding for safe water projects throughout the Dodoma Diocese

Financial Support
We have provided funding to help pay local pastors

Financial Support
We provided funding for medical and therapy services for Bishop Festo Ngowo

Prayer
We have offered many prayers for the recovery and return to better health for Bishop Festo Ngowo regularly since his illness

Prayers
We have prayed for the success of Aya School

Financial Support
We have provided funding for completing pastors and evangelists homes in the form the roof projects

Cultural Exchanges
We have welcomed former Bishop Peter Mwamasika and his wife on several times over his 20 years of leadership of the Dodoma Diocese. They have made visits to many of the churches in the NWO Synod, stayed at members homes, and shared their culture

Cultural Exchanges
Sponsored the Injili Tour in 2006 which brought over a group of Evangelists who spread out in the syonod to visite many churches, stay with local church members, participate in small meetings, and share their faith and culture with us

Cultural Exchanges
Brought over "Two Pastors and a Lady" on a "Goodwill Safari" to share their culture, faith, and love in 2010. They visited the churchwide offices in Chicago, NWO Synod, and many social service organizaitons and local churches during their visit

Service
Tumaini Medical Mission(of Hope)is scheduled for Oct 2012. Doctors, Pharmacists, Dentists, Nurses, other healthcare professionals, pastors & lay will focus on the medical issues of pregnant women, mothers & infants, and children in 2 remote villages

Service
Tumaini Medical Mission will also provide education to help villagers and local healthcare workers to identify and treat the common ailments, know when to seek additional medical help, understand disease transmission and methods of prevention.

Outreach/Evangelism
The Tumaini Medical Mission (of hope) by example will, demonstrate our discipleship, show the love of Jesus, support our brothers and sisters in Christ, and allow others to experience the will of God through the power of the Holy Spirit & Jesus' love

Financial Support
Provided scholarships for students of Aya secondary school. Also provided funding for capital improvements and repairs to buildings and dormatories located at the school

Delegations
In Nov 2009, two groups (11 total) from the Synod attended the consecration services of Bishop Festo Ngowo. Bishop Ngowo is only the second Bishop in the Dodoma Diocese. The 7 hour event included worship, traditional music, & choir son

Cultural Exchange / Service
Since 1995, Pastor David Bliss has led over 13 trips to the Dodoma Diocese. These have included individuals whose churches have "church to church companionships". Service includes working with PEN Trust, delivering school supplies, small projects
