Communication between our Synod and the KELC
Electronic media has helped to keep the lines open (mostly). We created a photo exchange by sending cameras for their use and then creating a photo album with our and their pictures side by side.
Music exchange…
We share recordings of our choirs with them as they shared recordings of their choirs.
Lenten Devotions and Prayer exchange…
We exchanged prayer requests regarding their ministries joys, concerns, etc. and we sent them our prayer requests for them to share. The devotionals were shared across our relationship.
Travelers to and from to deepen our relationship….
We try to visit on biannual bases. Our last team (2008) celebrated worship both in the International Congregation in Nairobi as well as two other locations.
International Counselor Program at Camp
We welcomed various counselors from Kenya to our summer camping program. We have run into visa issues lately; now helping other international counselors.
Bikes for Bikes/ Bikes for Bricks…
A bike-a-thon on a local bike trail to raise funds to buy motorbikes/bikes for KELC pastors & lay evangelists to help them get to the multipoint parishes.
BIKES FOR BRICKS.... to help with the Pangani Luth Children’s Center building addition.
Alternative giving Catalog
Highlighting options such as “Wells, Pangani Center, Tools for Jamii Mpya Tracde School Graduates” as well as other non-companion Global projects.
Companion Synod Sunday….
Annual third Sunday in October in which we share worship, prayer, and musical resources for our congregations to lift-up our companions in the KELC.
Displays and workshops….
At Synodical youth gatherings, Synodical congregational gatherings, and Synod assembly we’ve lead workshops and hosted displays.
