Profile of the companion synod relationship - 9A Virginia Synod / Papua New Guinea / Niugini Islands District
Our Role in Global Mission

Our partnership with our sisters and brothers of the ELC-PNG puts a name, face, story, and relationship to the two church bodies as we are one in Christ - we discover our diverse and shared mission, we learn more of one another's faith and church.

Component(s) of our relationship

Visitation
We have traveled to PNG and the NGI District four times, and have sponsored groups from NGI to travel to the VA Synod four times. We will host newly elected District President Toby for our Synod Assembly 2012

Projects
Over the years the VA Synod has been involved in supporting the building of school classrooms, purchased a fishing boat and equipment for a fishing project, and are currently working with the NGI leadership on a District headquarters home, office, me

School Fees for Children of Pastors
The VA Synod pays the school fees for the children of pastors; including the equivalent of our elementary, hich school, college, and seminary. This has been our most helpful and effective partnership expression beyond prayer and visitation.
