Profile of the companion synod relationship - 5E Western Iowa Synod / Chile
Our Role in Global Mission

Our relationship clearly expresses and invites response from our synod congregations to more deeply and fully participate in the ELCA Global Mission goals and efforts.

Component(s) of our relationship

Potential Areas of Accompaniment
As we looked to each other's ministries, mission goals, strengths, and challenges, certain potential areas of accompaniment emerged: bible camp, community health, Hispanic ministry, parish nursing, women's ministry, and micro-enterprise.

Companion Congregation Relationships
A significant interest in developing companion congregation relationships lies before us and is currently being considered for mutual agreement. Thus far, three WIS congregations have indicated interest, and the IELCH is considering the possibility.

Companion Synod Covenant
This is a relatively new relationship. After mutual visits, prayer, and discernment the Western Iowa Synod (WIS) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chile (IELCH) entered into official covenant relationship on April 28, 2012.
