Profile of the companion synod relationship - 3G Minneapolis Area Synod / Germany / Leipzig District
Our Role in Global Mission

We emphasize shared ministry in the fullest of what it means to be the church. For ten years we have had mutual exchanges about youth, education, worship, evangelism, social service, and the public role of the faith community.

Component(s) of our relationship

youth
For seven years we had annual reciprocal exchanges of youth and youth leaders. The nature of exchanges is being re-evaluated with the hope to continue them in 2012 or 2013.

worship
Pastors and music directors meet in 2011 and 2012 on the theme of Culture, Worshp and the Gospel. This encludes theological conversation, accompaniment with respective partners in congregational contexts, participation in rehearsals and worship.

social service
In 2011 administrators of social service agencies in Leipzig and Minneapolis area will discuss plans for mutual staff visits in areas of service to seniors, persons with disabilities, and general administration.

public role of church
In 2006 and 2009 Minneapolis delegations visited Leipzig to discuss role of the church in Nazi, Communist, and current society. Continuation of theme being considered: What is the context and task of the church today in Leipzig and Minneapolis?
