| Our Role in Global Mission |

| We travel to Nigeria each year to participate in the annual partnership conference as well as take our various congregational partners to meet their partners in Nigeria that helps us understand one another and deepen our relationships. |

Prayer Partnerships
Our congregational partners are encouraged to pray for their partners each week in worship as we know our partners our praying for us. The synod staff also prays for our partners each week in staff meeting.
Visitors To and From Synod
Our Companion Synod Coordinator travels to Nigeria each year with members of our synod's partner congregations and we host leaders of the LCCN who travel here to visit us (Archbishop and former seminary students.
Scholarships
The Minneapolis Area Synod has participated in the PhD scholarship of Rev. Sekenwa Briska at Luther Seminary. We also invite the Nigerian international students to preach at our synod congregations and lead forums.
Projects
We invite our partner congregations to participate in special projects like raising dollars to drill new wells, build new dispensaries, and assist the LCCN in its efforts to build administrative capacity throughout its church.
Global Companion Table
We have a committee (a.k.k. Table) of our synod dedicated to working with all of our congregations (no matter where they partner) to find creative ways to strengthen their partnerships.
Companion Congregation Celebration
This is an annual event of our synod where members gather to network, share ideas, and learn about how to strengthen their congregational partnerships in the world.
Sabbaticals
We encourage our pastors to take their sabbatical leave to Nigeria to learn about its culture and customs as well as to teach a course at Bronnum Lutheran Seminary in Yola - Adamawa State, Nigeria.
Communication
We created a quarterly newsletter focusing not only on our two companion synod relationships but also invite our other congregations who partner elsewhere in the world to write articles in order to gain understanding about God's mission in the world.
ELCA Malaria Campaign
Our synod was chosen as a pilot synod to promote the ELCA Malaria Campaign with plans to continue encouraging our congregations to give to this effort each year.
Website
We designed a website for the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (www.lccnigeria.org) with the hope that a volunteer will step forward and improve the website. Our hope is that the leaders of the LCCN will submit text and photos to expand it.
ELCA Missionaries
In addition to our companion synod in Nigeria, we encourage our congregations to visit the Mashiah Foundation in Jos, Nigeria and to support their ministry to women infected/affected by HiV/AIDS.
Global Formation Event
In cooperation with the ELCA, our synod hosted a Global Formation Event in 2007 and hopes to offer future events.
