Compass Points
Lead your group in new directions next summer with a Compass Points adventure in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of southern Colorado. With the "Blood of Christ" mountains as a backdrop, you will be challenged to grow in your faith and deepen your understanding of what it means to live, work and play in Christian community. We will work with you from the very beginning to create a week tailored to the unique needs of your group that is filled with backpacking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, high and low ropes course challenges and service opportunities. Through worship, Bible study and personal trusting relationships, our guide will create a loving and supportive environment where you are encouraged to take appropriate risks and discover new boundaries. The journey is as important as the destination, start it today!

High Adventure Backpack Trips
"L Double R" has two ranches located in high elevation settings surrounded by miles and miles of wilderness forest. Over the years, Sky Ranch has developed a reputation for excellence in backpacking, enjoying trails that take you into the Rocky Mountain National Park and the Comanche Peak Wilderness area. Successful trips build a positive sense of the future and nurture faith through powerful group dynamics. Sky Ranch provides guides, complete orientation, equipment, food and supplies and leads Bible study and inspirational programs for all groups.
Our trips can be customized for special groups, including adult groups or family groups. Choose from any of the following:
* Timberline Trails
Outpost trips utilize base camps in order to take substantial day hikes to locations not possible in a Wilderness Journey. Groups can attempt to hike to mountain peaks with lighter gear or choose to have more time for mountain lake or stream fishing, nature activities or bouldering.
* Wilderness Journey
In a wilderness journey trip, the group takes a looped journey across beautiful mountain terrain. The objective is to see a variety of environments, from towering Douglas Fir forest to isolated mountain lakes to spectacular scenic vistas. Journey routes can vary in skill level and use U.S. Forest Service land, wilderness areas and the Rocky Mountain National Park.
* A Taste of the Mountains
This successful program offers short-term hikes and overnights for groups who wish to combine their experience with a servant camp opportunity. Groups can also "taste the mountains" from a base camp at Sky Ranch. It is an excellent way for middle school youth to become introduced to mountain life.
Sky Ranch operates its program under permit of the Roosevelt National Forest, U.S. Forest Service, and as such its programs are open to all regardless of age, color, sex, creed or national origin.
